The Independent Observed Clinical Activity (IOCA) is RANZCP's newest assessment starting August 2025. Unlike OCAs with familiar supervisors, you'll be assessed by an independent examiner with an unknown patient in 50 minutes, then present under pressure. Yes. While IOCA requirements vary by stage, the interview techniques, presentation skills, and examiner insights apply to all observed assessments. Many Stage 2 trainees attend to build confidence for future assessments.

The workshop is specifically designed for RANZCP trainees and Partially Comparable SIMGs. The content focuses on RANZCP assessment criteria and may not be relevant for other medical training programs.

This is an in-person workshop only. The interactive nature and hands-on practice cannot be replicated online effectively.

Yes, the workshop includes timed practice sessions where you'll experience taking a comprehensive history under time pressure, then synthesising and presenting your findings - exactly what you'll face in the real assessment.

Many participants successfully obtain funding from their training programs or hospitals. We provide detailed invoices and can work with your administrative requirements.

Additional workshops may be scheduled based on demand. Early registration is recommended as we maintain small class sizes.

Absolutely. The presentation skills, confidence under observation, and systematic approaches directly transfer to oral examinations, vivas, and other RANZCP assessments.

The workshop covers professional communication skills and presentation techniques that are valuable for all participants. However, if you have significant language concerns, consider additional English support alongside this clinical skills training.

You should be currently enrolled in the RANZCP Fellowship Program or be a Partially Comparable SIMG. Basic clinical interview skills are assumed, as this focuses on assessment-specific techniques rather than fundamental clinical skills.
